St Paul’s Cathedral

Like many other iconic attractions in London, St Paul’s Cathedral is an English Baroque style and Church of England cathedral built in the 16^th century by Sir Christopher Wren. The St Paul’s Cathedral is a religious, historic and architectural site. It is the second largest cathedral in England. This church is built on the peak of Ludgate Hill which is the highest point in London and at 365 feet the dome dominates London’s skylines for over three hundred years.

For over a century and half the St Paul’s Cathedral was the tallest building in London until 1962 and the dome is yet the highest in the world. Some of the important services at the St Paul’s Cathedral are funeral of Lord Nelson, the Duke of Wellington, Sir Winston Churchill and Margaret Thatcher; Jubilee celebrations for Queen Victoria; peace services for the First and Second World Wars; the wedding of Charles, Prince of Wales, and Lady Diana Spencer, the launch of the Festivals for Britain and the thanksgiving services for Golden Jubilee, the 80^th Birthday and the Diamond Jubilee of Elizabeth II. Five floors of rich embellished history is the Buckingham Palace, work place of the British Monarch and the official London residence. A home name globally, sung in songs, used as metaphors, looked at as an icon is the strong reign of the British Monarch, the Buckingham Palace is a global sensation.  A palace of national rejoice. Unfortunately years later the palace endured neglect and isolation after the Queen was widowed, as the grief stricken Queen mostly clad in mourning black moved out onto other homes as to vent her anguish. The couple shares a history of tender royal love and had one of the jewel studded historic royal relationship. As one of Queen Victoria’s letters to her uncle goes on to say, ‘He is so sensible, so kind, and so good, and so amiable too,’ she writes, adding: ’He has besides, the most pleasing and delightful exterior and appearance, you can possibly see.’

The Gherkin

Built by the famous architect Lord Foster. This skyscraper is officially known as the 30 St Mary Axe and unofficially as The Gherkin. Barons Court Tube Station

Barons Court is a London Underground station in West Kensington, Greater London. This station services the District Line and the Piccadilly Line. The station is located on Gliddon Road, a short distance from Talgarth Road (A4) in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. Barons Court is between West Kensington and Hammersmith on the District Line, and between Earl’s Court and Hammersmith on the Piccadilly Line. It is in Travelcard Zone 2.

West Kensington Tube Station

West Kensington is a London Underground District Line station in West Kensington. It is located in North End Road (B317) close to the junction of that road and West Cromwell Road/Talgarth Road (A4).The station is between Earl’s Court and Barons Court and is in Travelcard Zone 2.

Ravenscourt Park Tube Station

Ravenscourt Park is a London Underground station located in west Hammersmith, west London. The station is served by the District Line and is between Hammersmith and Stamford Brook stations.The station is located between Dalling Road (B408) and Ravenscourt Road and is about 100 m north of King Street (A315). The station takes its name from the nearby Ravenscourt Park and is in Travelcard Zone 2.The station also maintains platforms for the Piccadilly Line but these are only put to use occasionally. This is usually on the occasion of engineering works taking place on other sections of the District Line, and during all-night services on New Year’s Eve.

Goldhawk Tube Station

Hammersmith Tube Station

Hammersmith is a London Underground station in Hammersmith. It is the western terminus of the Circle and Hammersmith & City lines. The station is in Travelcard Zone 2 and is a short walk from the station of the same name on the Piccadillyand District lines. The two stations are separated by Hammersmith Broadway. They are about 60 m (200 ft) apart door to door, although the positions of the pedestrian crossings on the Broadway makes it seem much longer on foot.
